Veteran’s Day Commemoration Ceremony

Veteran’s Day Commemoration Ceremony in the Sam Dean Board Room at the Oak Brook Village Hall on Saturday, November 11th at 1pm. This annual event is sponsored by the Oak Brook Historical Society and will be followed by a Reception in the Oak Brook Village Hall. We hope that you will be able to attend.

In addition to honoring all our veterans, the ceremony will include three speakers:

  • Private First Class Donald A. Sandstedt served in occupied Korea during the Korean War with the U.S. Army Ordinance Branch as a small weapons mechanic.

  • Barry Cefafsky (Villa 206) will reflect on his uncle Colonel James F. Baker who served with the U.S. Army and was awarded the Highest Decorated war veteran medal in the State of Illinois for his service during the Korean War.

  • Captain Patrick J. Hanlon is a Green Beret and Army Ranger who has spent most of his career in support of counterterrorism and overseas contingency operations in Syria, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Africa with the U.S. Army. Hanlon is the nephew of Dave and Elizabeth Arts.

As part of this ceremony we will be compiling a digital honor roll of our local veterans, past and present and we need your help.
