The Village of Oak Brook Executive Order Requiring Wearing of Face Coverings in Public

April 22, 2020

Village President Gopal Lalmalani has issued an additional executive order for the Village of Oak Brook in response to the COVID-19 situation.

Effective at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020 and until further notice any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate a face-covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place. While the order goes into effect Friday morning, President Lalmalani stated he would like to see residents, visitors and store workers begin wearing the face coverings in public immediately.

The Village of Oak Brook’s masking requirement does not apply to people who are out walking or jogging for exercise, driving alone in their cars or in their yards with members of their own household.

Each business that is open must either supply or require their employees to wear face coverings when dealing with the public. The intent of this recommendation is to do everything we can during this pandemic to help mitigate the community spread of the coronavirus, thereby reducing clinical cases, complications, and mortality. Individuals out in the public must maintain social distancing guidelines and continue with frequent hand washing.
